Our Installation System

At Luxury Artificial Grass, we use an innovative installation system which enhances your lawn’s lifespan and ensures it stays 100% pet friendly. By using a scientifically tested installation system, we install durable, high-quality artificial grass able to handle drainage and withstand harsh weather conditions.

This enhances drainage by up to 100% and prevents the build-up of any bacteria. By using our installation process, we can guarantee an artificial grass lifespan of up to 10 years.

When installing artificial grass, we always recommend hiring a professional team. This will help to ensure the grass is laid on solid foundations and is built to last.

What's the difference?

Other artificial grass installation companies have been known to lay the grass on sand or concrete as an alternative to our system. Over time, these foundations absorb pet urine and create a breeding ground for toxic bacteria and bad odours. Sand is also prone to eroding and washing away in harsh weather conditions, leaving gardens uneven.

To avoid this, our installation system is designed to tackle these common issues. We incorporate a solid, advanced drainage system, robust foundations and porous, pet-friendly grass backing. Our expert installers have a wealth of experience in laying artificial grass in a range of areas and conditions. Using their knowledge, they can tailor the installation system to suit your garden’s exacting requirements.

Our drainage system is comprehensive and scientifically proven to be effective. Prior to installation, we conduct an initial consultation in your garden to fully understand your needs and any existing garden issues that may influence the installation process.

Our 4 Phase Installation Process

1. Base Work

Prior to installation, it's crucial to prepare a clear, level foundation. This involves a thorough excavation of the area, followed by raking and levelling the surface to remove rocks and debris.

Apply a weed membrane to the area and secure it in position with 6″ galvanised steel nails around the perimeter. This will prevent weed growth
whilst allowing water drainage.

If there are no perimeters for the artificial grass to butt up against, 100% recycled plastic battens are installed around the edge.

The use of weatherproof battens in turf installations helps reinforce the structure, ensuring that the edges do not shrink or pull away. Moreover, these battens contribute to a tidy grass edging.

After installing the battens securely, our team uses Type 1 and Grano Dust to
construct the foundation. The surface is then compacted with a wacker or
compacting plate. This method, utilising porous materials, yields a robust and
durable laying ensuring a high-quality finish.

2. Polyurethane (PU) & Polypropylene(PP) Backing

Luxury Artificial Grass utilizes PU and PP backed artificial grass, specifically engineered for improved drainage. This durable, porous material repels liquids, ensuring effective drainage while preventing bacteria growth and absorption issues.

To secure the grass, it is laid on the foundations and fastened using either plastic battens or mechanical methods. Discrete fixings are utilized by the team to secure the grass effectively.

To maintain and enhance artificial grass, a mechanical brush is used to lift the pile. This helps the infill descend to the bottom, where it supports and protects the backing, while also keeping the fibres upright.

3. Organic, environmentally friendly infill

To preserve the turf's natural look and protect it against pet waste, we apply an organic, eco-friendly infill made from porous materials that soak up excess liquids and waste. This allows rain to wash away the waste efficiently. The application concludes with a comprehensive brushing to ensure even distribution across the grass.

4. Enzyme Cleaner

Once the grass is installed, we leave you with a 1 litre bottle of Meadow Fresh Enzyme cleaner, we recommend using Enzyme Cleaner to thoroughly clean your lawn every few weeks. This will prevent bacteria from building up and eliminate any nasty odours. It will also help to ensure that your grass remains a clean, safe environment for the whole family.

Unlike other artificial grass cleaners, the solution we use is 100% environmentally friendly and contains no toxic substances or artificial fragrances. The natural, active ingredients systematically break down waste and bacteria, allowing it to drain freely and efficiently.
